Celebrating Michael J. Bassett’s 50 Years of Service

In May of 1974 Michael Bassett added his name to the many generations of the Bassett Family who served the volunteer fire departments in the Tarrytown’s and Briarcliff Manor. In fact, in 1973, even before he was officially sworn in, Mike shadowed his brother Tom while he performed his fire department duties in an old garage behind the Scarborough Presbyterian Church.

Santa’s Express

The Briarcliff Manor Fire Department will be escorting Santa throughout the village this Sunday, December 20th, from approximately 9am to Noon.

BMFD to Participate in Statewide RecruitNY Open House Program

As part of the annual RecruitNY statewide initiative, the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department (BMFD) will open its doors on Sunday, April 28 th from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM so residents can learn how they can serve their volunteer fire department and EMS.

Live Fire Training

Last Saturday, the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department hosted a Live Fire Training class for its volunteer members. If you passed by the Fire House you probably noticed the training trailer and all the smoke emanating from it.

Student Firefighter Volunteers Learn More than Fire Safety Skills on the Job

At age 16, students who wish to join the fire department can do so as exterior members but at 18, they have the opportunity to take a course called Firefighter I and become interior members.
