Mount Pleasant Dump Fire

July 12, 2021

This past weekend your Briarcliff Manor’s bravest was at it again.  The Briarcliff Manor Fire Department was requested to respond to the area of Chappaqua Rd and Carleton for a smell of smoke on Saturday July 10.  Units quickly arrived on scene to find the smoke was coming from the Mt. Pleasant Dump.  The mulch piles had become on fire and required multiple units to respond to put the fire out.  Our mutual aid partners from the Pleasantville Fire Department, Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, Millwood Fire Company, Bedford Hills Fire Department, Armonk Fire Department, Hawthorne Fire Company, Continental Village Fire Department, Pocantico Hills Fire Department and Ossining Fire Department responded to the scene providing tanker trucks (water trucks).

Units operated at the scene from the early morning hours to midday before operations concluded.  The Department was called back on Sunday morning for additional watering of the pile and Millwood Fire Company and Pocantico Hills FD was back out there to support this call.
