Message from the Chief – Fireworks Safety

June 30, 2023

The Fire Chief would like to share a few facts regarding Fireworks.

Each July 4th, thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured while using consumer fireworks. Despite the dangers of fireworks, few people understand the associated risks – devastating burns, other injuries, fires, and even death.

BE CAREFUL!

  • Fireworks cause an average of almost 18,500 reported fires per year.
  • Sparklers account for roughly one-quarter of emergency room fireworks injuries. Sparklers burn at 1200 degrees F Glass melts at 900 degrees F
  • Do not use consumer fireworks.
  • Keep a close eye on children at events where fireworks are used.

If you want to see fireworks, go to a public show put on by experts. There are a number of professional displays in our area.
